Killer Is Dead

Essentially, Killer Is Dead, is a hack n slash fighting game. Probably my least favourite gaming genre, but at least Killer would offer something missing from most games – creative art direction.

In the game, you play the role of Mondo Zappa (yes, that really is your name), a cybernetically enhanced executioner, who is employed by the Bryan Execution Firm to kill supernatural criminals and monsters.

Whilst the fighting works well, and the big boss battles are suitably tough, this visually stunning game seems to loose track when it comes to it’s bizarre LSD inspired story line and it’s gratuitous over use of female sexulisation, both in it’s graphics and gameplay.

Though to be honest, if it wasn’t for the creative visual experience and bizarre fixation on the female form, Killer Is Dead would have fallen on it’s face.

The uniquely graphic approach of Killer Is Dead also helps emphasize another aspect of the game, whilst no one in their right mind could say that the game portrays realistic violence, the colour schemes and simplistic graphics, combined with buckets of blood, make Killer one of the most visually violent games available.

You have been warned!

Rating: R16 Contains violence.
