the-saboteur-1The Saboteur is a solid mix of open world game play, with the near perfect balance of mission driven story to propel the game along. You could think of it as Grand Theft Auto meets Assasin’s Creed, set in Nazi occupied 1940’s France. It certainly has the over the top fun and stereotypical characters of GTA, but with AC styled building climbing and far more interiors than RockStar ever created. It also has a blatantly publicised nudity enabling DLC (which comes free with the game) that would get any GTA game in hot water, but surprisingly, The Saboteur seems to get away with it – maybe because it’s based in France and not the good old wholesome US of A?  Read the rest of this entry »

Michael Atkinson, Australia’s controversial Attorney General, has defended the decision to refuse classification to Sega and Rebellion’s Aliens vs. Predator, claiming that: “You don’t need to be playing a game in which you impale, decapitate and dismember people.”

Speaking on an ABC News piece, Atkinson again defended the fact that Australia has no 18+ or mature rated classification for videogames.

“This is a question of a small number of very zealous gamers trying to impose their will on society. And I think harm society. It’s the public interest versus the small vested interest,” he said.  Read the rest of this entry »

Before the dust settled on the beginning of this year’s Video Game Awards on Spike, the first surprise announcement was the revelation that Batman: Arkham Asylum would get a sequel.

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 – which is what we’ll call it until an official title is revealed – presumably continues where the original critically acclaimed Rocksteady title left off, and was revealed via diabolical plot from Batman’s Nemesis The Joker. Attempting to gas those in attendance, Mark Hamill’s threatening vocals reverberated throughout the audience revealing a sequel people “didn’t expect.” After smashing through sales charts and the assumptions that all licensed titles are crap, we expected nothing less. Take that, Joker! [joystiq]
