Anthem

For me, Anthem has two big problems, the first being that it’s another in a long series of games being released recently that come under the ‘play’s better with friends’ category. And whilst this a great concept, none of my friends are playing Anthem, so I have to go lone ranger, which leads me to the second issue with Anthem, and that is after playing it for a while, I just don’t care about it. I’m not saying that it’s a terrible game, I’m just saying that it’s not grabbing me, and in a market saturated by releases, that’s not a good place to be.

Anthem is, according to EA, a shared-world action-RPG, but based quite heavily on the fact I have mates playing the much-maligned Fallout 76, I’d rather play that than EA’s latest big budget game.

Anthem has a lot going for it, the four distinctive classes you can play, the fact that at times you’re going to feel like Tony Stark, though the Tony Start that didn’t solve the issues with Iron Man’s suit overheating. It has some beautiful, well-designed playgrounds that encourage flying, and the verticality of being Iron Man gives combat approach many more options.

But combat does seem to come down to shooting at enemies that are little more than bullet sponges and the loot never seems that impressive.

In the end, Anthem played solo, just becomes a quickly overheating grind.
