Resistance 3 Announced Through Film Set Billboard?

It was pretty much a forgone conclusion that Insomniac would eventually make a third Resistance title, but we’re not so sure this was the way they intended to announce it. NeoGAF member goldsoundz posted a couple of pictures from the set of a new movie filming in Shreveport, Louisiana, and one prop on the set stood out in particular: a billboard for Resistance 3.

The movie, titled Battle: Los Angeles, isn’t set for release until February 2011, so the timing of the future product placement makes sense. It’s also worth noting that the film is being produced at Columbia Pictures, which, yes, is owned by Sony (oh sweet, sweet corporate synergy).

And best of all, the billboard prop itself even hints at Resistance 3’s setting: with the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building clearly visible within the lettering of the title, it’s obvious the game will be set in New York City. We’ll see when Sony or Insomniac get around to confirming it themselves, but considering the game probably won’t be out for another two years or so. [1up]
