Kingsman: The Golden Circle

The Kingsman: The Golden Circle was directed by Matthew Vaughn, starring Taron Egerton, Julianne Moore and Colin Firth. Although it does not quite live up to the first kingsman movie, it was a worthy piece of dry comedic action.

We see Eggsy (Egerton) back in action, feeling the loss of Harry (Firth) and now a fully fledged Kingsman agent and we also meet the cousins of The Kingsman, The Statesman, their American counterpart. Up against another world defining crazy super villain the two groups must work together to save the world once again.

The film had funny parts that didn’t quite match the comedy from the first film and these parts were minimal and only seemed to be in the fight scenes.

I liked Julianne moore’s acting as a crazy super villain but she didn’t quite match the intensity of Samuel L Jackson’s villain in the original film which I found somewhat disappointing.

It was almost as though the film wanted to be exactly like the original, without originality that many sequels offer. The first film had been so far out that it makes this one, seem like a poor quality carbon copy with nothing to offer, almost so that it made me wish that it hadn’t ever been made.

Rating: R16 Violence, offensive language, drug use & sex scenes.
