Halo: Spartan Assault

Halo: Spartan Assault is a kind of stop-gap between the last, last gen Halo and the next, next gen Halo game. It’s like someone at Microsoft HQ asked the question; Have we got a Halo game for the XBox One at launch? and when told a big fat negative he started to panic and authorised the fast tracking of a top down, Halo flavoured shooter, thinking that it would fill the gap an totally missing the whole brand image thing.

If you’re a Halo fan looking for the next Halo game, Halo: Spartan Assault is not for you. It’s NOT Halo. Period.

If however you are an arcade junkie who loves a bit of quick good arcade fun, then Halo: Spartan Assault just might be worth a shot. If you’ve played Halo before, even better.

The thing with Halo: Spartan Assault is that it looks like a halo game, kind of, but is like going from the latest GTA and jumping back on the original top down PC game. Sure, it would still be fun, but it’s not what you wanted.

So in short, it’s a fun little arcade shooter, with a Halo flavour, but this top down shooter is never going to be anything other than an occasional bit of fun between other games.
