Gran Turismo 5 Discs Being “Stamped as We Speak”
It looks like there’s hope yet to see Gran Turismo 5 released before the end of the year, just as Sony promised it’d be even after another recent delay. During an interview with car site Jalopnik, Polyphony Digital boss Kasunori Yamauchi was asked when the game would finally be released. His reply: “The discs are being stamped as we speak.”
In other words, the game has presumably “gone gold,” meaning all the coding and tweaking is finished and now they’re just mass-producing the game to ship out around the world. And as seems fitting for a game that’s been almost mythically just out of reach for years, Jalopnik provided the additional bit of evidence of the picture above, showing Yamauchi literally making a “stamping” gesture with his hands as he made his comment. Dude is serious.
However, it must be said Yamuchi still didn’t reveal a new date, so it seems the question now is whether Sony will be able to make enough copies for a proper launch around the world before the end of the year. They previously promised the game would still be out before Christmas, but for now, it looks like we’ll have to wait and see… -1up
