Whilst Activision seem intent on fleecing us for every cent we own, despite badly needing to offer some good will to it’s loyal fan base, EA have fired a shot over their bow with the notification that on the same day as the new MW2 DLC becomes available, the second FREE VIP Map Pack for Bad Company 2 will also be available. Take that @fourzerotwo!  Read the rest of this entry »

You gotta give it to Microsoft, they certainly know how to get the party started.

When I got to work today there was a dubious parcel waiting for me – dubious as in it was a brown paper bag that looks like the courier guys had been playing rugby with it. But on closer inspection, I saw that it contained a bunch of goodies, including some Stawberry Lindauer, as well as the latest addition to the Lips line of karaoke games; Lips Party Classics.

Cheers. Party at my house tonight.

Infinity Ward are trying to be cute with the launch of a teaser site detailing when the first of two promised map packs for Modern Warfare 2 will be released. To be honest, I’m certainly not suffering from ‘mapathy’ – I stopped playing MW2 as soon as Bad Company 2 came out. Sure, I’ll download the new map pack, along with millions of other people the world around, but I’m not overly excited about the prospect. With rumours that two of the five maps will be straight copies from Modern Warfare, and the cynical knowledge that one of the new maps is bound to be a small private match map, leaving us with essentially two maps to play to enjoy, only one of which will actually be enjoyable. Yes, you can call me cynical, I don’t care. As for releasing it on a Tuesday (or if you live in New Zealand you’ll probably have to wait for Wednesday) is that really prime time for Modern Warfare? I would have figured a Thursday release to give people time to download it for Friday and Saturday night gaming would have been better? Or is it that the financial year runs to the end of March for Activision?
