When you start playing a new game and get a distinct sense of deja vu, it’s never a good thing, and that’s the main issue with Dead Rising 2: Off The Record

Sure you’re back to playing Frank West and you’ve got a new area to explore, as well as your camera to snap pictures, but everything else just seems like a carbon copy of the original Dead Rising 2.

It’s as if the game designers suddenly got lazy and decided to do a what if game, where the what if was Frank West being the key witness to this vegas style zombie out-break.  Even the cut scenes seem to be carbon copies, with the inclusion of West’s image.

The missions, game-play and big bosses may have been tweaked a little, but Off The Record has DLC stamped all over it, rather than the slightly cheaper full game release that it’s been given.

If you’re a die-hard fan of the series, there may be something here for you, and if you’ve never played any of the series before, this is as good a place as any to jump in.

The new free play mode offers a little added bonus, but in reality there are only so many zombies you can kill before it gets old.
