DVD: The Happytime Murders

There are some things you just can’t un-see. And there is one scene in particular early on in The Happytime Murders that will haunt me for the rest of my life. And it’s here where the tone of the film is set. Happytime is basically a murder mystery set in a world where muppets and humans coexist. It’s also a film driven by the need to take every depraved human condition and put a puppet spin on it.

As a creative brief it’s a bit hit and miss, but as a whole it’s a delightful, if light and fluffy, romp through you traditional police drama. More TV series than film quality police drama, but in the end it’s an entertaining if mostly forgettable evening on the couch.
