DVD Review: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
The Guardians are back baby, to save the galaxy again, that is if they can just stop fighting each other. Yes, the wise cracking band of misfits are back bringing their own brand of mayhem and laugh out loud humour with them. The film kicks off with the Guardians helping a very snobby gold coloured race of aliens protect their most precious resource, before Rocket decides to steal some on the sly, and then the Guardians are being hunted down by a massive armada of remote controlled ships. Such is life whith such conflicting personalities.
This time however rather than just a rolling set of jokes we get to delve deeper into the characters and what makes them tick, we see family dynamics at play, we see redemption and reconciliation, and the problem with egos.
And it’s a wild, trippy ride fueled by the music of David Bowie, Cat Stevens and Electric Light Orchestra and 10cc along with many more killer tracks. The first Guardians was and equal mix of music, humour and action and Vol 2 carries on with the formula.
It also throws a few curve balls, introduces some new characters and sets a record for the most post film credit scenes.
All in all Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 continues to prove that the best superhero films don’t need to be serious, and certainly don’t need any superheros. If you liked the first film, you’re gonna love Vol 2.
