DVD: Mission Impossible Fallout
Unlike most of the long running Mission Impossible series, Fallout pretty much carries on where Rogue Nation left off. In fact Christopher McQuarrie is still at the helm.
So, of course any Mission Impossible film has to be taken with a large dose of exception that reality has to be suspended, and the flimsiness of the plot will expand to keep you entertained for the duration.
And of course it has to be said, that Tom Cruise and the Mission Impossible team are amazing at keeping the series alive by coming up with fresh ideas and never letting the series or action grow stale.
This time out, Cruise and co are chasing nukes and a vengeful terrorist. McQuarrie takes a straight forward terrorist hunt and injects it with a healthy does of methamphetamine. The action is fast and furious, the set pieces choreographed to perfection, and the twists and turns come thick and fast.
With Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames thrown in for some minor comic relief, Fallout is firing on all cylinders and Tom Cruise is on top form, and despite the fact that I often can’t stand the guy, manages to keep me entertained and on the edge of my seat for the duration.
