DVD Review: War For The Planet Of The Apes

War For The Planet Of The Apes, the third and finale film in an outstanding reboot of the classic film series see’s Caesar (Andy Sirkis) confronting a genocidal, ape-hating colonel (Woody Harrelson), who leads a renegade band of like minded soldiers.

Despite a showing mercy after an initial battle, Caesar is confronted the lethal determination of the colonel and is essentially forced into a once-and-for-all show down, a battle royal.

War For The Planet Of The Apes has everything you’ve come to expect from the series, jaw dropping special effects, a great storyline and plenty of pure adrenaline laced action.

But it’s more than just that, it has deep emotion and an interesting look at behavior, as well as some darker themes.

The final showdown is nothing like you anticipate, but it’s a brilliant twist when Caesar and the colonel come face to face for the last time.

Whilst the ending of the final battle is a bit hard to swallow, the film wraps up the series nicely, and does justice to the films that preceded it.
