BluRay Review: Orphan Black Series Four

Orphan Black absolutely kicked arse and blew minds in it’s first season, and carried on strongly throughout season two. But the show seemed to be loosing steam by the third season, so it was with nervous anticipation that I slipped season four into the PS4.

Shortly thereafter I was dazed and confused until my brain caught up with what John Fawcett and Graeme Manson had done with the first couple of episodes. They had taken everything back to BEFORE the first episode of season one. Back to see what the police officer had been onto and what possessed her to take the actions she did to get the whole Orphan Black ball rolling. And then with a deft hand took us back to the present with a whole new level of conspiracy and edge of your seats thrills, twists and turns that never seem to let up. The sestras are once again on the back foot with enemies closing in from all sides, and a cure still seemingly a million miles away.

Familiar faces come back into play, but who really can you trust? And the dark side of human cloning and medical research gets so much darker in this season with technologies that will literally make your skin crawl and medical practices that will make you rage.

Season four has given Orphan Black a shot in the arm, bringing it back on form and possibly exceeding it’s mind-blowing season one debut.

If you’ve never met any of the crazy clones, then you’ve got a lot of catching up to do, and one hell of a wild ride.
