A Resident Evil TV Series Is In Development At Netflix
At the end of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter came to an end with Milla riding off into the sunset to rid the world of zombies, I thought to myself, well this might be the final film, but that is the perfect start for a TV series.
Now news that a reboot with an all-new cast (wait, no Milla?) is in development and will be directed by Johannes Roberts, director and co-writer of 47 Metres Down, and it will be heading to television.
Deadline has reported that Netflix is developing a scripted series based on Resident Evil, and although the project is in the very early stages, Deadline has heard that while it will keep the basic premise of the franchise, it will also expand the universe and deepen the existing mythology. It’s expected that the Resident Evil series will “explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.” Constantin Film, the studio behind the Resident Evil movies, is also involved in this potential series and the search is currently underway for a show-runner.
