Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

This is the generation of re-mastered games, from console exclusives to cross platform titles, chances are that if it was successful on the last generation, it’s got a remastered version coming out. Those chances sky rocket if the franchise is getting ready to release a new title in the series. What better way to get players excited about an upcoming title that releasing a graphically improved older game?

With The Nathan Drake Collection, it’s not just one game, but three.

Playstation exclusives like Uncharted have always lead the way in graphical prettiness, but seeing as the first game in the series, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, was released in 2007, just adding a nicer texture pack and some better lighting doesn’t cover up the 10 year old character models and scenery. Nor does it improve the aged gameplay.

But it’s not all bad, Uncharted has always been a winning combination of cover shooter, adventure puzzler and performer all rolled into one linear story, that doesn’t always feel like a linear game. Whilst Drake’s Fortune is showing it’s age, having all three games highlights the Naughty Dog’s ability to improve with each new story. When you get to the third game in the series, things are looking a whole lot better, though not really up the the standard we’re expecting from next years Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

What The Nathan Drake Collection does do extremely well, is remind us what a great series it has been, and manages to get us a lot more excited for next years release. Though hardcore fans might not fond enough to keep them satisfied, if you missed any of the Uncharted games then this is definatley one to pick up.
