State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition – Gameguide

How will you survive the zombie apocalypse? Well, a good place to start would be by playing State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition, the remastered zombie survival simulator for the Xbox One. The XBox 360 classic, along with Add-Ons Breakdown and Lifeline, is now available in 1080p.

The year one edition brings State of Decay to the new XBox console along with new missions, weapons, and extra content, as well as improved lighting, textures, animations, and combat mechanics.

But will any of this pull you even deeper into the post-outbreak world? Well that depends on weather you’ve played the original 360 version. If you have, then to be brutally honest, apart from the extra add-ons, one of which includes a new area and a more military focus, it’s probably not worth your time.

However, if you never got round to playing it on the 360, then you should definitely check it out, especially with it’s very reasonable pricing. A word of warning, whilst the game play is great (see our XBox 360 review), despite the remastering it still feels like an XBox 360 game. Some of the weird character animations are still present, and whilst the lighting effects are awesome, the scenery can look flat.

Having said that, if you want a zombie survival game with more scope than Dying Light, and you’re more interested in game play verses graphics, then State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is something you should check out.
