Fun, in it’s most viscerally violent form, has always been a four-letter word. That word, of course, being Doom. 2016’s Doom is arguably the best example of over the top gore laden violent fun wrapped up in the safe confines of a video game. Doom Eternal is built on its predecessor’s success but throws in a few new ideas.
Like a battle cry from Braveheart, the game makes you feel invincible and encourages you to run headfirst into the battle that awaits, pumping your fist and screaming at the top of your lungs as you decapitate foes with shotgun blasts.
Of course tactics and planning will be required as you progress, along with a bit of navigation, but at its heart, Doom Eternal is still a game that wants you to embrace your inner demons and slay things in the most spectacular way.
If you’re after high octane fun with a shit tonne of gore that wouldn’t look out of place in an Eli Roth film, then Doom Eternal is your go-to for some late-night shenanigans.
